this was last year's news but new to me. Farrell Eaves, a 69-year-old retired security engineer and sometime photographer dropped his digital camera into a pond. after weeks of trying to dry it out in all possible ways, broiling, baking, blow-drying, and sun-drying, his camera came back to life in an unexpected way. the pictures he calls "magical" are somewhat painterly, flat, abstract, and distorted. colors are all tweaked and blurred into each other. his life was changed since then. he's been exhibiting his photos and even published a book of them.
