the winners of the first core77 challenge, of the theme "memory" are announced. some interesting ideas. the grand prize winner is of a movie polaroid camera (polaroids that use lcd instead of photo paper). finalists: an intelligent & sensing garden trowl, a digital networked dynamic tattoo, a digital time capsule that captures memories and can release them at a later time. some honorable mentions: a scent capsule that captures scents, an emotive biofeedback bracelet that plays generated music, electronic post-it notes based on location & situation, an implanted "birthmark" capsule for genetically modified individuals to store their original dna, an electronic dogtag. my favorite one has to be the digital tattoo. not a new idea, but a good one. i'd get it in a heartbeat when it becomes available. unlike the electronic ink tattoos (which has a patent now, or the bacterial tattoos or the digital pigment assistent, this one's networked.
